Who Am I?

My name is Jemison Pope but I am called “Jemi” for short.

I lived in the early 19th century. I was the first to greet the German immigrant - FSC Sommerkamp - when he, with his wife and sick child, arrived by steamboat at Irvington, Alabama in 1835. Although I was known as a sage philosopher with a repertoire of witty sayings, I was also prescient in prophesying events to come in the next two centuries. I have given author Sunny Jim permission to publish some of my thoughts, sayings, and speculations in this blog. Hopefully, over time, this will represent a body of work that will let you have some deeper insight into life, death, love, technology and (occasionally) spirituality.
